My Travel Design Process
There is nothing better than getting a text from a client, who is on vacation, with a beautiful Hawaii sunset picture. This warms my heart so much to know that this couple is enjoying their Maui honeymoon and I helped to plan this special time for them.
People always ask me how I work with my clients. I have a process that I use with all of my clients. First, I have a consultation with them to see exactly what they are looking for in their vacation. I ask many questions to be sure I really understand their needs and expectations. Then, I research, research, research and prepare several itineraries for them that best match their needs. Once these itineraries are prepared, I present them to my clients and we refine them until we get the perfect one. I proceed to book the vacation. Once everything is confirmed and a deposit is received, I keep in touch to be sure that they are up to date on any changes, such as COVID restrictions, and deadlines that must be met. As we near the date of departure, I send the complete itinerary along with any vouchers that are needed both electronically and in the mail, as there are times that internet can be shoddy and I want to be sure they have a paper copy of everything. On the day of travel, I monitor plane flights, to be sure everything is on-time and I do check-in with them while they are away just to be sure that all is well. And when they return, I speak with them about their trip, ask them for a review and keep in touch so we are ready to plan their next vacation.
So why do I LOVE being a Travel Designer:
I get to work with all of my friends and family throughout the country and since I work by referral I get to work with all of their friends and family. I am not restricted to only working with people where I live.
I get to work wherever I am in the world. I love to travel and as long as I have my laptop and internet access, I can plan vacations from anywhere.
I get to be creative and design fun and exciting adventures for people. And people are happy when they we are planning their vacations.
I get to learn about new places all of the time. I am constantly learning about new countries and experiences so I can offer these to my clients.
I wake up every day saying “I get to” and I know that the work I do makes my clients’ lives better. My motto is “Building Memories One Vacation at a Time” and as Hans Christian Anderson said “To travel is to live”.
