Some of My Favorite Summer Getaways in the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Grand Canyon Visit in 2014

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon was on my bucket list and a few years ago, the stars lined up and Steve and I were able to get there. Steve loves a train so we decided to take The Grand Canyon Railway from Williamson, AZ to the Grand Canyon. It was a fun ride complete with food and entertainment. We spent 2 nights at the Bright Angel Lodge and spent the day hiking and exploring the canyon. It was an unbelievable experience and I highly recommend it.

Honeymoon in Maui in 1988

Hawaii

Steve and I spent our honeymoon in Hawaii, with a few days in Maui and a few days in Oahu. We did sightseeing and a few tours: the Sugar Cane Train, Dole Factory and of course, Pearl Harbor. We have plans to go back for our 35th anniversary next year.

Riding around San Diego on GoCar Tour

San Diego

I have been to San Diego a few times. In the summer of 2017, Steve and I spent a few days there. We rode around town in an open air electric vehicle (see above), saw a baseball game at Petco Park and spent time in the Gaslamp District and the port. I have also been to the zoo, La Jolla and the famous Coronado Hotel. San Diego has it all and is a great place to visit any time of the year!

Mother/Daughter Trip to Park City in 2021

Park City, Utah

If you are not a skier, then Park City in the summer is great! Rachel and I went last summer and had a blast. We were there during the Park City Kimball Arts Festival so downtown was abuzz with many wonderful artists and I was able tu purchase a few pieces. We rode a ski lift (honestly, the only time I will ever ride a ski lift is during the summer) and we ate, drank and shopped. Such a fun weekend!

Visting Mt. Baker last summer

Washington State

How can I forget my home state of Washington? This will be our 2nd summer living here and I will tell you, the summers are glorious. Since our son is in Seattle, we have visited every year since 2015, but spending the summer with days in the mid-70’s and daylight until 10:00pm, definitely makes up for the cold, dark winters. The photo above was taken last summer at Mt. Baker, which is a short drive from our home. Probably we will never go to the mountain in the winter, as we don’t enjoy the winter sports. Washington offers water and mountains, sightseeing, wonderful food, wineries and so much more.

Now is the time to start planning your summer vacation. Contact me to so we can discuss where you want to vacation this summer.
